Today's project: gonna finally see if I can wrestle webmentions to the ground. Never been able to get it working properly but I like the idea of rolling my own glitch webmentions server like this: qubyte.codes/blog/a-new-serv…

Setting up Webmentions TL;DR:
- Enable h-card markup
- Add webmention.io support
- Write custom JS to display webmention.io API
- Sign up for Brid.gy for social webmentions
- Sign up for webmention.app

(cont.)
- Set up IFTTT for RSS -> webmention.app to send webmentions
Fin? Maybe? I count 4 different web-apps necessary *and* two different code markups needed to get this all working correctly.
Webmentions is a failed system.

Not sure I understand why this is "failed"?
I'm guessing you are using a static site generator. That's going to give you lots of problems trying to do anything dynamic, kind of by definition.

There's definitely room for someone to come in and build a better solution tailored to all the specific limitations of static sites! What you're seeing is the side effect of these solutions not having been built specifically with static sites in mind.
