oh no it finally happened. I forgot to book a hotel for this trip and only realized when I landed at 11:30pm.

You haven’t lived until you’ve done that in Europe, after an 18 hour flight. During a big conference where all the hotels are booked. Bonus points if your company is the one throwing the conference. Or so I’ve heard.

I got to find out what “guaranteed room availability” with high hotel status means. It means you’re paying 4x what everyone else in the hotel is paying, and you’re sleeping in the conference room. No seriously, they put a cot in a conference room and charged me for it.
