I can't wait to overengineer the crap out of the circuits for my new house. Yesss give me 20A outlets on the ceiling and at twice the minimum density on the walls, preferably on two different circuits! And why not throw a few floor outlets in there while you're at it

2) it took me 5 tries to find the breaker for the dishwasher. The one labeled dishwasher didn't turn anything off. Eventually I found that the one labeled "kit lights/living room" turns off the dishwasher

Whoever did the electrical wiring in this apartment should have their license revoked. 1) the circuit marked "bedrooms" serves literally every lower outlet in the entire place, including both bedrooms and the living room, and the only place to hook up an AC ...

Tell me about it! I tried really hard to push for simplicity in the spec, to enable exactly that use case, but sadly did not win that argument.

or you can be your own provider! I wrote up some options that don't involve running your own Mastodon instance here: aaronparecki.com/@aaronpk

lol I had someone comment a much more polite version of that on my last stream and I was just like 🤦‍♂️ I don't get how some people are able to ignore the basic facts, or treat reporting on facts as "political"

This graph is the number of fediverse messages per day my little single-user instance has been receiving over the past year. Something is different.

Ironically, the ActivityPub spec itself works just fine with plain domain usernames, nothing about it requires WebFinger or username based IDs. That was something I pushed hard for when we were working on the spec. But sadly Mastodon requires the @-@ syntax and WebFinger.
The number of people in my Twitter timeline still posting about anything other than the Twitter collapse is rapidly diminishing
