I mean my main reason for not having a desktop computer for the last 10 years has been that I'm always on planes. But that's clearly not the case anymore, so it's tempting.

It's part of the old-school HTTP Digest Auth en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digest… It just doesn't really solve things the way you'd expect.

yes that, plus using your website as a home for other kinds of online content as well! This tweet for example is actually first posted on my website, and the Twitter version is just a copy of it indieweb.org/POSSE

If you're talking about what existing silos can do to play better with the open web, there's no reason they can't also support webmentions natively

There are at least two social networks that use webmentions natively: micro.blog and pine.blog As for the current siloed approach, that's exactly what we're doing right now, many of us with brid.gy

This sounds like what Webmention enables. This tweet for example is actually a copy of my reply to you that I've posted to my website. It works directly from site to site too of course.

The CalDigit TB3 is great geni.us/hucidG but it's Thunderbolt+DisplayPort, not USB-C+HDMI. This Anker one is USB-C, geni.us/SHPKeJ1 but the HDMI is flaky with my 16" Macbook Pro.

Double check your "connected apps" section here nitter.vloup.ch/settings/connect… It could be that some Twitter app you logged in to has been fiddling with your account.

If the mic input is connected to a device that's also powered from wall power, it could be a ground loop issue. I wouldn't expect any interference with a little on-camera unpowered mic though.
