Static sites can already scan HTTP server logs for mentions. Webmention enables the sender to notify the receiver immediately instead of waiting for someone to click the link, and also enables static sites to offload receiving to an external service like webmention.io

Generally, 404 isn't enough to assume the author intended to delete, so I still display them. If you want to actually delete a webmention, then 410 is the better approach. See also: indieweb.org/deleted

It was super awesome to visit the @heritage_radio studios in NY today and see how they converted shipping containers into a recording studio!
I've always been concerned about noise bleed from the nearby road at @stream_pdx but this is a whole new level.
