These commercials aren't necessary anymore with 90% of consumer attention funneled into the same zombified franchises that have been around for 20 years and with all new major titles being live services. So many more people are online now but everything feels smaller than ever.

The live service model is receding and has been for a few years. No live service games among the GOTY nominees.

As time goes on, it only gets more depressing.

Hoping this is a sign of another game industry crash. Been feeling that AAA games are just paper tigers for the most part and I feel like the biggest gamign circle jerk (after The Game Awards) shutting it's doors even though "each has been bigger than the last" is a sign of that.

What a grumpy Gus. Yeah the franchises move most of the money but I would argue that people who are interested enough to tune up to stuff like this were looking for the stand outs and originality, and that’s who it was for. Not the majority of the market that just buys 3 games

Less than half the top selling games in 2023 were live service, and zero of the nominees for GotY were live service

Kind of makes you wonder just how the industry is going to crash and what people will do during the crash it won't be the same as ataris crash cause people have stuff to go back to now
