It is worth noting that there are still times -- all too rare -- when @ACLU will defend the speech and other political rights of groups with which they politically disagree.
ACLU has spent years defending the NRA from the efforts of Gov. Cuomo to destroy it due to its views:

The government can’t blacklist an advocacy group because of its viewpoint.
