I am genuinely staggered by how pervasive alcoholism is in the US. I've encountered a lot of alcoholics but I never would have guessed that 1 out of 10 Americans over the age of 12 will drink more than 4 of those 750ml "fifths" every week. Just crazy.

Alcohol, the recession proof investment.

It’s actually insane what alcoholics go through on a daily basis. Had a friend that couldn’t drink his coffee in the morning because of the shakes. We called it his drinking problem. We thought that was pretty funny.

People think they're cool when they say 'fifth'. It's very grating.

Look up "deaths of despair".

Wow, that's honestly pretty shattering. I've met my fair share of alcoholics, and i'd imagine where i am people go hog wild with the drinking going by the culture. I feel incredibly fortunate that i hardly drink these days.

Still not as bad as it used to be (though getting worse lately). Prior to prohibition in the 1920s, there were about 3 times as many bars in USA as there are today, and that was with 1/3rd or less than the current population

FINALLY Nick is > top 10% at something. When you find your natural talent and work really, really hard at it, anything is possible. 🌈

I think you would be surprised on the amount of alcoholics that work menial jobs that are just wasted 24/7

Pour yourself another drink, Nick. You've earned it.
