NY is shit but it's got more state parks per area than any other, and some of them are pretty great altho if you're just looking for the sort of outdoors I would, the pretty landscapes, just head southwest a few hours

One thing I remember from the military, everyone around you was from a different random state, it's the people from AZ and AS who loved their states the most. Never heard a bad thing out of those from Arizona and Alaska. Altho I think AZ has turned for the worst in the last 20 ys
