This action by Biden’s DOJ cannot be used to obstruct congressional investigations or whitewash the Biden family corruption. If Weiss negotiated the sweetheart deal that couldn’t get approved, how can he be trusted as a Special Counsel? House Republicans will continue to pursue the facts for the American people.

It is illegal to appoint a US attorney as Special Counsel. See § 600.1 Grounds for appointing a Special Counsel (b): "That under the circumstances, it would be in the public interest to appoint an outside Special Counsel to assume responsibility for the matter." and § 600.3 Qualifications of the Special Counsel: (a) "...The Special Counsel shall be selected from outside the United States Government."
