Hi Tim. Regarding high prices that is price-gouging by the manufacturers/companies/businesses and the likes. The president does not set prices but the Congress could do something about them but a Republican Congress refuses as high prices benefit them as talking points

When you no longer artificially depress the price of oil with the Strategic Petroleum Reserve & when OPEC decides to curtail production, prices of everything will go up. Just wait, there's more: they have to start refilling it. They're waiting for after the election for that.
