It is not the purpose of affirmative action to fix disparities in education. It is to provide historically disadvantaged individuals a slight advantage. Reading Scott's Tweets, it looks like Tim could have used a little help in his education.

Your statements are true sir. But education also starts from home and parents have to be involved.

What sorts of "diverse educational options" do you envision emerging in South Carolina's poorest, most rural counties? Or do you imagine that parents from Lee or Jasper County will be driving their children to pricey private schools in Columbia or Charleston, vouchers in hand?

School choice is a myth. Vouchers are an agenda for segregation. Local Boards of education are mafias with a political and business agenda. Federalize Public Education and advocating for Children Rights to Education is a start.

Well if you really care about education. Why don’t you start in South Carolina. It’s a state controlled by Republicans. So it should be easy to implement your vision on education. Especially since South Carolina is towards the bottom in that category.

Vouchers do not cover full tuition at many school places. They don't provide transportation for poor students to go to elite schools, or provide ESS services, lunch services, afterschool care. It just gives tax money to rich people. Invest in public ed.

THEN FIX THE SCHOOLS AND FUND THEM ALL EQUALLY!!!! It’s ALWAYS been absurd that where you live impacts school funding levels. You shouldn’t have to spend a fortune on a house for decently funded schools. Ask Finland to help you figure it out.

Vouchers not only take much needed money out of poor school districts, it will leave the students who are most vulnerable in those school districts with even fewer resources. And most private schools don't accept students with disabilities. #SenatorMushmouth is wrong again.

Yea I feel really bad for those kids in red state zip codes who are being denied wonderful and important works of literature. Their educational options are being crushed!
