My 13 years serving in local government taught me that mass transportation is a local issue. We need to empower our communities to find local solutions for local issues.

Most local transportation costs are subsidized by Federal funds - states & cities look to the federal govt to fund projects to transportation infrastructure. Airports & runways, rail systems, interstate highways, roadways, bridges are a part of U.S. transportation & commerce.

That hasn't translated well for your state

Oh look what “Senator Mass Transportation” voted against: the BIPARTISAN infrastructure bill. Once you get past Tim Scott’s platitudes and pandering…there’s really nothing there. google.com/amp/s/www.newswee…

We also need a high quality national passenger rail system that interconnects local transportation.

So no Federal transportation dollars to your state? Sounds like a deal to me.

In other words, @SenatorTimScott is saying to us South Carolinians to find a solution to the Saluda having 1.9 million gallons of sewage spilled in it, the comptroller general overstating 4 million dollars, the ongoing fentanyl & homeless crisis situation. @WatchYourRepsSC

States can no longer tax enough to manage all that is needed by mass transportation. Wages have been kept so low people can’t afford the fares and gasoline taxes are not bringing in as much because of the high mileage cars have been getting for years. You need to be woke.

Haven’t you noticed the far right in your red states are banning books, women's right to choose, emergency contraception, voting rights, African American history, and more? The local communities are too busy taking away our freedoms to focus on actually solving local issues.
