Tonight the Senate passed my anti-lynching legislation, taking a necessary and long-overdue step toward a more unified and just America. After working on this issue for years, I am glad to have partnered with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to finally get this done.

I can’t believe that in 2022 we have to pass such a bill. This should have been passed long ago. Because of the division in this country I have learned just how divided our government really is. We need to work just as hard on the voting rights bill. Gerrymandering needs to stop.

This bill is 50years too late. Lynching doesn’t look the same. It’s two armed people Cornering/killing a jogger while another films it. It’s another father son duo attempting to corner an employee while delivering packages.

If you had worked on your assignment, which was the George Floyd Policing Act, maybe Mr. Amir Locke would be alive today.

The bill was authored by Booker, Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., and Sen. Tim Scott. Until now, its been blocked by republicans. The same onse who were ok with the confederate flag being in the capitol. ST@U and sit you sellout down somewhere

Hate to break it to the senate but in Texas, people that lynch could have gotten the death penalty….Now according to the bill it looks like best they will get 30 years. What a joke! Senate passed a bill that criminalizes lynching & make it punishable by up to 30 years in prison

The fact that this legislation is necessary is troubling. Now what did you do in return @SenatorTimScott Interesting read for those who believe this legislation is not necessary: nytimes.com/2020/06/19/us/ha…
