So I'm thinking of finally re-learning how to drive, and thus have, for the first time in life, started 'window shopping' for a car. Was thinking about a Prius, but have several people trying to convince me of a Model Y, despite its 25k higher price... and like...

I totally believe the arguments that the Model Y is basically the best car you can buy. But like... I don't think people understand how much fun twenty five fucking thousand dollars of weapons-grade stupid 22lr guns would be for me... And I can't imagine a Model Y stacking up.

Like I can't imagine making an X vs. Y comparison between two vehicles that do everyone one needs, and going "yeah I'll spend 25 fucking thousand dollars more please". Like that's taking someone out for an AMAZING meal every weekend for 5 years.

You could grab an electric fiat to play around with!

In a world of SUVs, I don't like the idea of being a bug with 4 wheels to squash.

Understandable, you could always lease instead of buy? Or just go with a decent used car just to see if going big would even be worth it.

Yeah, that's what I keep thinking. Leasing feels wasteful, but it also means I could figure out what's actually important to me first? Idk, as someone who isnt into cars, and has only had one used car years and years ago, it's all so confusing.

Pretty much. I drive a few hundred miles a week sometimes because I just love driving. If you feel comfortable behind the wheel, and you take a well built car on the right road (and we have a lot of those around here) it’s easily just as thrilling as a trip to the range.
