Coming from a consumer perspective, I knew QA existed but thought it was more just random end testing. Boy was I wrong, these men and women are in the pits of it!
I know I say this about once a year, but hey everyone; QA is an incredibly important part of game dev. Great QA is hard to find and great games do not ship without great QA. These people are core game devs and should be treated as such.
