Could I ask what happens when you restart the launcher and try and update? Do you get any error messages, or does it just re-open the launcher without updating? ^LK

Just to confirm, the email field "Your Email Address" in the form asks you for an email that you have access to. Can you double check that you're using your current email address in that field? It doesn't need to be the email on your account. ^LK

It may be that there are some updates that need to be installed. Could you open the Start menu and go to Settings, select Update and Security, and select Windows Update? This will check for, and apply any updates you may have pending. ^LK

This error means that Minecraft couldn't reach the authentication servers or the connection has timed out, either due to a temp service outage or issues with your game/connection. Can you let us know what troubleshooting you've tried, and what device you play Minecraft on? ^FF
