Have you checked your Microsoft account privacy settings? You may need to do so to ensure you have access to multiplayer/Realms. Also, if playing on console, you may need to check for any needed subscriptions (Xbox Live Gold, PlayStation Plus, or Nintendo Switch Online). ^FF
If possible, try a hardwire connection instead of WiFi & see if others on your network are using taxing services (downloads, streaming, uploading files, etc.). Power cycling your router/modem can also help. Let us know if you're still seeing that error or not! ^FF

Are you seeing this happen on your single-player worlds, or is this happening on Realms, servers, or other multiplayer worlds? Can you let us know what platform you're playing Minecraft on (iOS, Xbox, etc.) and what troubleshooting you've done to address the issue? ^FF

What troubleshooting steps have you and your friend tried so far, if any? Switching to a hardwire connection instead of using WiFi would be a great start, as well as checking your Firewall/Antivirus software settings. You can find more tips here: bit.ly/3W3TQPf. ^FF

Since this is a bug, we are unable to troubleshoot, nor can we provide an ETA on when it will be resolved. We'd encourage you visit the bug report to see if any steps have been provided there for you to try. Going forward, we'd suggest making regular backups of your worlds. ^FF

Is this for Java or Bedrock, and are you trying to connect to a Realm, server, or a friend's world? If possible, can you try using hardwire connection on your device and see if that improve things? ^FF
