To find out if a username is taken, go to your Mojang account and click change. Third party checkers and hasPaid are not always accurate.

@MojangSupport Unique Names are extremely stupid, especially with UUIDs in place. I want to drop the WS off my name, but its taken!

@MojangSupport That doesn't mean names have to be unique... I've yet to see the guy anywhere.. I'd like "Sephiroth" as my IGN.
