To find out if a username is taken, go to your Mojang account and click change. Third party checkers and hasPaid are not always accurate.

@MojangSupport I'm having problems when playing certain servers after I change names I lost all my items and I'm having trouble connecting

@MojangSupport What happens if you accidentally changed your name. Are you stuck with it for the 30 days.

@MojangSupport will there be some sort of API devs can use to check if the name is available or not(eg:the change name under mojang account)
