To find out if a username is taken, go to your Mojang account and click change. Third party checkers and hasPaid are not always accurate.

@MojangSupport I can't migrate my account because I don't have access to either my old email or my transaction ID, how do i change my name?

@Minegalaxy123 You have to login with your email address, not the username because you have a Mojang account now. ^DS
