@MojangSupport I was just about to exit my world after putting in hours of work. Then my computer froze up randomly and when I reloaded my game, there are chunks missing now. Is there any way to extract a previous auto save state? I put so much work into it...

Did this happen on a Realm or a single-player world? ^BT

This was on a single-player world. I can still enter the world, but there are now gaps of missing or partially missing chunks where you can fall out of the world. Only the chunks where my base is at are corrupt. It was the last place I was at when my PC froze.

This may be corruption on the Realm since the client closed incorrectly. At this time there is no way to fix this or revert it unless you have a backup. ^TK

By experimenting, I found a partial fix. I reloaded the same seed as a new world, registered the chunks where the base was at, then merged the level.dat and the "lost" directory with the new seed world. It restored most of my base and the missing chunks which are now refreshed.
