Yeah you're correct, nothing in the article helps me unfortunately and I've thoroughly gone over it multiple times. I got minecraft from gamepass. I am just going to try to uninstall and reinstall it.

In our article here help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/…, it states that you must have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription. Game Pass Ultimate comes with Xbox Live Gold, but the basic Game Pass doesn't. Do you have Game Pass Ultimate or just Xbox Game Pass for Consoles? ^LK

If I bought it on PC would I still need an xbox live subscription to play online?

Nope! Only the console versions of Minecraft require a paid online subscription to access multiplayer, like Xbox Live Gold for Xbox, PlayStation Plus for PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch Online for Switch. Mobile and PC don't. ^LK
