This may be just a connection issue, you may want to switch to hardwire rather than WiFi if you haven't already, and have you tried loading any backups from before the update to rule out potential corruption? ^AM

I can confirm this has been happening for me as well with all players on my realm reporting poor performance (high cpu usage specifically) on both realms and single player as well as visual artifacting and other lag/slow rendering

Have you tried rebooting your router? This can help improve your connection. I'd also recommend checking your firewall/antivirus settings to rule out any issues there. Let us know if you're still having any of these issues at all! ^FF
