anytime i try to talk in a realm, i can’t see the other players chat

Are you seeing any errors when you try to chat, and is this for a Bedrock or a Java realm? ^FF

I keep freezing when I was my elytra on a realm and then I have to restart my Nintendo switch to play

Do you have any Marketplace packs installed on your realm? You might try removing those if so to see if that improves the issues you're seeing. You may also need to try reinstalling the game on your console. Let us know if you're still running into any freezing issues! ^FF
