@MojangSupport tiktok.com/t/ZTRyqb3Cg/ the Minecraft updater has a huge bug. It just cycles through trying and failing to update the program over and over endlessly. Running Win10 and loading Minecraft through Steam (so that I can use an Xbox controller)
