@MojangSupport my 9 year old has spent his pocket money on marketplace mods and they won't download. Loads of space on device. Any help for a very sad little boy?

The issue I mention appears to have no solution.

The best option here is to refund the purchase of the Marketplace items if they are not working. Through what platform did you make the purchase? ^TK

You would need to reach out to google play support for assistance with the refund! If you purchased it recently, they should have no issue. ^TK

One is recent, but 9yo has only just told me about others.

The only thing I can say is that you can refund the recent purchases. I'm not sure about the older purchases, however, that falls upon their refund policy. ^TK
