I'm getting a similar problem. I'm actually just trying to buy Java edition, and I keep getting the "error placing order" box.

"Try a different payment method." Wow. I don't have another payment method, and it works fine on any other site I've used. I guess I'm not getting Minecraft then.

Payment errors can happen in different steps of the payment process and be caused by a number of reasons, so they're sometimes hard to troubleshoot. However, we also recommend trying in a different browser or clearing your cache. ^NS
