After I migrated from mojang to microsoft I can only play the demo. It might be because I had an existing microsoft account with the same email address as my mojang account.

It seems I can't even just buy it again on my account, because when I'm logged in it thinks I already have it. Just the launcher will only let me play demo. :(

Okay. Now I know it's a problem with the launcher on Linux mint. Minecraft for macos works as expected.
