Account Migration has not begun. There will be an in game message when it's your turn to move. Do not fall for any third party websites that are telling you to migrate NOW. They're trying to steal your information.

how will we be notified in-game and will running a older/modded version affect whether or not i get the notification? will i also get notified in the launcher?

Great question! You still have some time. We won’t be starting account migrations until 2021. You’ll see a note in the launcher when it’s your turn. More info here: help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/… ^SM
