@MojangSupport I am a Let's Player and have an (for me) important question about the 1.16 update: Is it planned to reset the Nether in pre-1.16 worlds on the final release of the 1.16 -> loss of any progress until then?

As with past updates, any unexplored territory in your Nether should become the new Nether, and all existing/explored territory will remain as it was before the update. That said, it's always important to keep a backup of your worlds if possible. I hope this help...
