As frustrating as it may be, multiplayer on consoles does require a paid online subscription. This is true on Xbox with Xbox Live Gold, PlayStation with PlayStation Plus, and Nintendo Switch with Nintendo Switch Online. ^LK

Minecraft does require some dependency programs to work properly, one of them is Gaming Services. It is intended that these dependencies run when you play. Are you encountering issues with this impacting your ability to play Minecraft? ^LK
