Hmm, if your friends can connect but you can't, it might be a firewall issue from your laptop / tower preventing local connections. Have you tried double checking and allowing Java (or Minecraft for Windows) on both devices, or temporarily disabling it? ^IV

hmmm... have you made sure to update your Realm to the latest version of the game? If not, would be good to check for updates. If that doesn't work reach back out to me and I'll escalate you upward. ^TK

Worlds are stored locally so if the app was deleted or it shut down improperly your worlds can be deleted. A way so that this doesn't happen is moving the world to a Realm, then friends can join as well and you can create backups of the World. ^TK
