Three years ago, she ran to be the Democratic nominee for president. Now, Tulsi Gabbard says she’s leaving the party altogether.
Not that that should surprise anyone, @mehdirhasan says. After all, she told us who she was a long time ago. WATCH:
.@AnandWrites says Dems need to get into the “meaning making” business as they try to save democracy.
They've "totally failed at the ‘meaning making’ project,” he says. “When you do that, you leave the worst actors…the task of organizing and explaining the world to people.”
If you find U.S. politics depressingly dysfunctional—and you should—cheer up, @mehdirhasan says. Things are just as bad across the pond, where Liz Truss resigned as UK prime minister after just 45 days in office.
That's right: Her term didn't even outlast a head of lettuce.
A new book suggests Nancy Pelosi was a major force in dooming both of Democrats’ impeachment efforts against Donald Trump.
Democrats say they did everything they could, but “the reality is, they didn’t” @rachaelmbade says.
Watch her and @karoun discuss w/ @mehdirhasan:
Last week, a video went viral showing Nancy Pelosi on 1/6 saying she wanted to punch Donald Trump. Turns out, she may have been a saving grace for Trump, with new revelations painting a bleak picture of a lawless president's botched impeachment — twice.
@mehdirhasan explains:
Part of GOP extremism includes its whitewashing of 1/6, with top figures like Kevin McCarthy moving with "warp speed" to change his stance to keep Donald Trump close.
"He's had this longstanding admiration of Trump," @DraperRobert tells @mehdirhasan, "but it's really fear."
Can the GOP come back from its downward spiral into extremism? Not “for the time being,” @DraperRobert says.
“When your base is essentially possessed by this unending source of disinformation,” he tells @mehdirhasan, “then I really do not know how you reverse that.”
As extreme as Trump or the Republican Party were in 2020, Marjorie Taylor Greene showcased even more extremism. But is that still the case? “Sadly, shockingly, far from it,” @mehdirhasan says: “In today’s GOP, Marjorie Taylor Greene is the main attraction.”
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Democrats have a messaging problem. But could the work of certain “persuaders” be key in the fight for democracy?
There’s a new book all about it, & author @AnandWrites joins @mehdirhasan to discuss. Tune in: peacocktv.com/mehdi
It’s no secret that the Republican Party has descended into extremism. But is that because more extremists came into the fold, or because the party itself opened the door to them?
@DraperRobert joins Mehdi to discuss how the GOP lost its mind. Tune in on @MSNBConPeacock.
As the GOP continues to push more and more into extremist territory, is this the end of the mainstream Republican Party as we know it?
“Certainly for the time being,” @DraperRobert says.

Florida has a grim history of terrorizing prospective Black voters. DeSantis seems to be reviving that tradition. (via @TheReidOut Blog) msnbc.com/the-reidout/reidou…
DeSantis has also added hurdles to vote early or by mail, redrawn districts to undermine minority voters, and is now arresting voters to suppress turnout.
@mehdirhasan: "Imagine what that man could do in the Oval Office come 2025."

ICYMI: In 2018, some 4 million Floridians voted for Ron DeSantis — and in that same election, more than 5 million voted to restore felons' voting rights.
Yet, @mehdirhasan points out, since taking office, DeSantis has made it nearly impossible for many ex-felons to cast ballots.
He’s made it harder to vote early or by mail. He’s redrawn districts to undermine minority voters. So what does Florida’s governor do when he wants to further suppress turnout? He arrests voters.
@mehdirhasan: "You think the election-deniers are bad? Ron DeSantis is worse."

Tuesday’s Florida Senate debate between incumbent GOP Sen. Marco Rubio and Dem Rep. Val Demings got pretty heated around gun legislation.
But, at times, it was as much a debate between Rubio and… Rubio as it was Rubio and Demings. WATCH:
