Pray for the people,
I鈥檝e always been a 2-stater with respect to Israel-Palestine, still am. I鈥檓 just not naive to think a peaceful resolution was going to happen in my lifetime.
Some of us had our ideologies shattered on October 7. Mine were shattered during the second intifada.
It wasn鈥檛 just the sheer amount of suicide bombings, it was the subsequent responses to them as well.
In September of 2001, a month after the Sbarro pizzeria bombing that claimed the lives of 15 and injured 110 more, an exhibition was opened up at Al-Najah university in Nablus.
The entrance of the exhibition was made to look like the entrance of the Sbarro pizzeria. Inside, part of the exhibition is a mock up of Sbarro after the attack; half eaten pizza slices and mock body parts scattered around.
At the 1:07 mark the organizer of the exhibition speaks. This is the translation as provided by AP:
鈥淎s a matter of fact we want to convey to the world the message showing that we are persecuted people, we are people who've suffered a lot by the Israeli occupation. If some pictures exhibited here depict the military operations carried out by the Palestinian resistance - this is to show the world we are persecuted people. Because of Zionist practices carried out day and night by the occupying forces, the popular resistance has emerged."
