Julian Assange deserves jail because "he is not a member of the free press," @jamil_n_jaffer tells @mehdirhasan. But @JameelJaffer says: "If you can charge Julian Assange" with publishing U.S. secrets, "you can charge any national security journalist with that."

"FREE PRESS" meaning captured & therefore NOT free press
I think your whole premise is BS. Free Assange now and arrest the real criminals, and investigate fully Mehdi Hasan.
The only people who want Julian in prison are the ones implicated in the crimes he exposed. This individual was a part of the Bush administration that committed the war crimes, torture and black sites of the ‘war on terrror’.

Jamil is a war criminal just like the rest of the Bush administration and belongs in a cell at The Hague

The "press clause" does not protect press as an industry or identity. It protects the act of publishing. scholarship.law.upenn.edu/cg…
Deep state affiliates attempting to create a closed shop around who is consider a journalist, next we see that they advocate that only government approved organisations & people be considered journalists, anyone can be a journalist by seeking truth, stop your subversive efforts.
