4 facts about Iraq War that I bet you won’t hear about it in mainstream media
- Fact#1 : For majority of us in Iraq, it was a liberation from a brutal dictatorship. We were living in hell under Saddam. The regime murdered and caused death of millions of Iraqis in just over 3 decades.
- Fact#2 2003 was NOT the year when everything went to hell in Iraq. Iraq was already a hell. The only difference was, we had no camera no international press to film it. 2003 just made the West have a direct stake at a hell that was Iraq for decades. Iraq for you started existing in 2003, for us and the rest of the region we were suffering from the most murderous regime in the modern history of the Middle East for decades.
- Fact#3 most of what you read in the mainstream media about the war is written by Iraqis who were privileged during Saddam Hussien reign. Because their take works with the mainstream narrative that the US invasion is the singular event that ruined Iraqis live and they fail to accurately describe the pre-2003 Iraq.
- Fact#4 the liberation of 2003 soon turned into just an invasion and chaos. The US and iraqi leaders mismanagement, corruption, role of regional powers and abuse followed. And we are still paying the price of the Bush administration not having a realistic post-Saddam plan and we still pay for Obama’s hastily withdrawal for no strategic reason other than winning votes in the US.
The true story of what happened in Iraq is still untold.
