With the House GOP passing an anti-socialism resolution - and putting Dems on notice - @mehdirhasan asks if it's better for the left to distance themselves from the label, or embrace it? @ninaturner and @AmandiOnAir debate the best strategy for the party.

They are literally all full of 馃悅馃挬 what a laughingstock we have become
We have always been a socialistic-capitalistic country. Our roads, schools, sooooo many institutions and free services for the public. That's socialism. It is NOT communism, and that's where people get confused.
It's best to ignore this bullshit. Supporters of progressive initiatives in the US have never called them "socialism." Their enemies called them socialism. We can call public education, social security, medicare and medicaid traditional American institutions.
Good. What's mine is mine and what's yours is yours. Simple concept. Socialism throws that all out the window. LEARN what SOCIALISM really is. Not what communist / fascist groomers want you to "think" it is.
Every minute spent on defense is one you could be spending on offense. Never give an inch. Don't denounce Socialism. Abstain because it's a stupid resolution.
I think the Dems should not steer away from the word.. I think they should embrace the word.. If the policies are technically socialism.. call it that. This is how we get things all muddy. When you start to use branding, instead of educating. Just the facts.. Not the perception

Lincoln was the father of American Social Democracy His first State of Union is inspired by Marx Manifesto They had differences, Lincoln believed in respecting private ownership, a social democrat Every Scholar/intellect knows that Why politician not telling the truth?
Embrace it, but clarify that what the Pubs are denouncing is communism, not socialism.

Dems need to better explain exactly what they've done and want to do. No labels necessary. And explain the tragic medical outcomes when a fetus is not viable. Stop with the 'all or nothing' with abortion!
Embrace it, and take the time to explain it. Social security is socialism. Medicare is socialism. Unemployment insurance is socialism. Red states getting financial aid from the federal government is socialism. Blue states providing that aid is socialism.
