Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy is often boiled down to a few words or phrases, but on this MLK day, @MehdiRHasan asks us to remember Dr. King as the outspoken leftist that he actually was, not the man we conveniently want him to be.

Thank you for not only pointing out the New York Times “change of heart” (and quite frankly the vast majority of US media sources) regarding Dr. king, but also posting this clip of his interview. Most US cable news sources wouldn’t have had the courage to post this!
Mehdi has once again gone beyond the surface of America's superficial characterizations of MLK Jr.'s words. King was not a Capitalist. He was an avowed Socialist. He believed that Black ppl are owed reparations for slavery. Because they were the capital in Capitalism in the U.S.
Amazing Mehdi, you are quite MLKesque in your piece here, great job!

Thank you Mehdi!!! So sad how we as a nation, and as individuals in this great nation manage to cherry pick only part of the truth to suit our narrative. How can we earn trust and respect if we continue on this path??

Hey Paki, was he really a leftist? Or really a practical revolutionary?
