Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg vowed to investigate the Southwest Airlines meltdown that stranded thousands over the holidays. But @mehdirhasan has a question for Buttigieg: Wouldn’t it have been better to try and keep this crisis from happening in the first place?

It's wierd seeing folks who have drunk the partisan koolaid commenting in defense of DoT and Pete dropping the ball. Pete isn't in the DoT to regulate; the man is in there to gain corporate donors for his election run, any fool can see that. He was told these issues were coming.

@secretarypete and @USDOT isn't going to do anything. If Buttigieg wants to maintain a political career, his best bet is to allow state AGs to hold airlines accountable. He doesn't get his precious hands dirty or lose their money but would still be seen as doing something.

You are bang on here, Medhi.
The whole thing looked planned for a long time! Every single person must be made whole‼️We won’t wait to see the right thing done. The longer this is ignored, the worse things will be for #Southwest
Buttigieg did fine with the other airlines and just messed up with Southwest?

This is ridiculous and absurd for you to be obsessed with Secretary Pete. Get a life.

How? How is this not a vacuous, ad hominem attack? How is this actually a reasonable fucking question?
