Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg vowed to investigate the Southwest Airlines meltdown that stranded thousands over the holidays. But @mehdirhasan has a question for Buttigieg: Wouldn’t it have been better to try and keep this crisis from happening in the first place?

No. It's none of the business of the government to keep a private business from putting it self out of business. Consumers must do that.

Big fan of yours — but this was not Pete’s doing. And I’m a BIG fan of his… so…

Thank you so much for highlighting this. As a sufferer of the Southwest debacle, it was terrible to see how inept the Transportation Secretary is. Buttigieg's incompetence is at par with some of the Trump appointees. Still baffling how he got the job.

McKinsey boy's mission is to protect corporate profits. Nothing more.

Mehdi, I like you, but this is just stupid. Since when does the Dept of Transportation make business decisions for private airlines?

He does not own the company nor he is CEO of the company.

Secretary Buttigieg is not the CEO nor the IT guy of Southwest air which is a private company. You are an embarrassment to @MSNBC for not knowing what the role of the Transportation Secretary is.
