Democratic leaders like Nancy Pelosi have called for a return to the “old” Republican Party. But @DavidCornDC argues those “good old days…never truly existed”: “You can’t go back there,” he tells @mehdirhasan. “This has been a forward motion of the Republican Party.”

Grandpa‘s already lost his marbles, ain’t no coming back
@SpeakerPelosi makes a point. The US has a two-party system, a duopoly that works best when BOTH parties compete for votes with good ideas and strong candidates. That's NOT what we have right now, and I'm not sure we can "go back" to how it was.

The GOP that Speaker Pelosi referred to no longer exists. This MAGAQ GOP party is all that does exist. It is destroying democracy from the inside.

She’s unfortunately in a bubble remembering a time that doesn’t exist anymore @SpeakerPelosi
Everything in the GOP shifted dramatically after The Last Legitimately Elected Republican POTUS, Eisenhower left.
Thank you!! It NEVER DID EXIST! She needs to stop saying that. Same with Schumer & any of the others who say that. It makes us think the democrats are in collusion with republicans when they say that bull 💩
Mehdi Hasan - David Corn explains that the GOP always had darker side, which I agree but the reality now is that the darker side has ECLIPSED the other side. The darker side of GOP speech is louder and rules.

I think I went to school with some LaPlantes in Warwick. Tracy? Chris? I think they were sisters. Hmm. Too long ago to remember.
Yeah probably a common enough French Canadian name right?
