Since the U.S. pulled out of Afghanistan, life has been made immeasurably harder for its women. During our occupation, they could use Western dress, work and attend school; but the Taliban has taken all that away from them again now.
I read the book some years ago. I'll bet the play is wonderful!

You can only help a country so much. At the end, they will have what they want, Taliban in the case of Afghanistan. Ukraine is fighting for freedom with its own forces against a very powerful force successfully because they want freedom.
