Best part is Tolkien describes the most common Hobbit races/subspecies, the Harfoots, as dark skinned, including most of the Shire population!

It's almost like if you take an existing IP and inject ideology into it, people don't like it. There are plenty of non-white characters out there, and they can be successful. Just ask Eric July.
