Dr. Fauci became a household name during the pandemic. He didn’t get everything right and he faced heavy criticism. But he stayed, and he served. After Fauci announced he’ll be retiring in Dec., @mehdirhasan says: "If any 81 y/o has earned a long-overdue retirement, Fauci has."

He got most things right & took an immense amount of abuse due to Trump's jealousy of his popularity & fear of Fauci being honest w/ the public when he was trying to downplay Covid due to the election. The GOP was relentless. It's commendable that he didn't quit. Thank u Dr Fauci

Imagine the pandemonium at SoulCycle studios across the Northeast when Tony Fauci announced his retirement. The wailing. The swooning. Manicured hands clutched to breasts, then fumbling for Xanax in expensive handbags. video.foxnews.com/v/63112729…

Staunch criticisms of Fauci's pandemic response from @VPrasadMDMPH, including supporting the closing of schools, which left tens of millions of children behind in education and development for little to no gain whatsoever:

He should spend his retirement in a prison cell
