Gone are the days where getting COVID prompted people to take time off of work. Instead, the new example set by people all the way up to President Biden himself is: “Power through it!” The only issue, @mehdirhasan says, is that message just isn’t realistic for most Americans.

I slept for the better part of 5 days and was operating at about 50% capacity the week after. It was brutal (and happened in early May this year).

There were decent programs in Canada for Covid relief, however, most, if not all, are gone and Covid isn’t. I think most people have to go to work with it bc they don’t have the sick days.

I contracted COVID. The last thing I needed to do was to power through it.
Unrealistic, dangerous for infecting others and getting long COVID (proper rest decreases LC risk).
Thank you for this. I would like to add, as someone struggling with long Covid, repeated infections increase the chance that one will have long-term problems. It is not remotely worth the risk.

I remember years ago in a little truck stop hotel in Sumatra the kids working there sang and danced to Bollywood songs while working and told me they wanted to be American had to tell them it’s not what you think and all you’ll ever do is work and never make enough to survive
Biden said it was going to take covid seriously and he flat out lied. 1 million+ didn’t power through they died! Another 3,000 died this past week! Millions have long covid! Disgusted with Biden Administration. Won’t vote for either party. We are no safer this year than last.

It’s also the absolute WORST advice if that person is unfortunate enough to develop Long Covid. In two years the ONE THING that everyone responds well to is rest. Extreme rest. Brain rest. Sleeping like 15-16 hours a day level of rest. Powering thru causes extreme setbacks.

Reminder that Biden campaigned on this
