Very important to look at history. One always looks at history in relation to Israel and Palestinian (mainly from Israeli position) so we should for this war. At least look at 2012-2014 and the build up of anti Russian rhetoric in Ukraine

I don’t understand this conversation at all. @juliaioffe is a brilliant analyst of Russia, but she doesn’t seem to get Ukraine. Ukraine plans to destroy the Russian army. They outnumber them 700k to 150k and are armed with superior NATO weapons. Ukraine won’t compromise.

Correct. Compromise in this situation will only come from the battlefield. Ru doesn't want to compromise on the elimination of Uk. Ukr is not willing to surrender. All the talk of Ru/Ukr compromising is a waste of time. Affect the battlefield, support Ukraine & incapacitate RU.

good points, Julia! hopefully there are other variables in that equation: Putin’s death, Russia’s economy collapse, another pandemia. Russia can’t win playing long. Unfortunately Ukraine has to hold that long to outlast the Mordor.

Putin only cares about Ukraine because he is trying to block the Bessabarian pass below. The problem is it is located in Romania and that’s WW3. Next target is Odesa, then Moldova, if he can.
