Is there any chance of compromise w/ Russia as war continues in Ukraine? “It’s very hard...with a leader who sees things as a zero-sum game,” @juliaioffe says. @PeterBeinart's reply: “If compromise seems impossible, I don’t see how victory seems possible.” Watch the exchange:

The lobbying & paid IOFFE is not right but, Mr.. Beinart says nothing more than reality.
If the US were charged with booting Russia out they'd do so using 100s of JAASM, JSM, HARMs launched from F16s. That gets Russia on the back foot. Followed by 20 Reapers terrorising the ground troops to push them out. Choice is to give Ukraine that capability.
Is she talking about Israel? It sad cause in this conversation you can replace "Russia" with "Israel" and "Ukraine" with "Palestine" and this conversation would still make perfect sense.
Tired of pundits telling Ukraine that they should cede anything to Russia. Israel doesn’t even support Ukraine in this war. Let’s listen to people who actually know how horrible Putin is - like Ms. Ioffe.

Where @juliaioffe , an actual woman from Russia, calmly explains to a ‘political analyst’, from a country that doesn’t even support Ukraine - how geopolitics work when you’re dealing with a brutal dictator. Why do these pundits feel they have the right to expect U to cede to R?

you can not compromise with Putin

I can't see the US compromising with a neighbour that wants a chunk of its territory. Why would Ukraine want to cede land snatched by Russia? There is not a shred of legitimacy to Russia's claims on Ukr and Russia's conduct constitutes genocide & war crimes. Why humour Putin?
While Putin hasn’t abandoned his desire to wipe out Ukrainian identity, I sense his war strategy (& notion of compromise) is more positional now. He wants to keep as much of Ukraine in the fold as possible, start the Rusification there, stop the sanctions, and ‘sell’ it at home.
