An individual right to self-defense with a gun isn’t actually provided by the Second Amendment, @ElieNYC argues. Its original purpose was to preserve white supremacy and slavery. You’re going to want to hear him explain it:

It literally says "the right to keep and bear arms."

This is a complete misunderstanding of the Constitution that it "gives" us rights and anything not explicitly stated we don't have the right to do. It is literally the opposite with it constraining the govt & anything not explicitly given to them (10th amendment) they can't do.

@blkgunsmattr @MAJTOURE somebody come look at this.... LOL An individual right to self-defense with a gun isn't actually provided by the Second Amendment..... It's a natural right, and the Second Amendment is a restriction on the government from infringing on that natural right.

James Baldwin spoke of this in his writings and his film documentary, “I Am Not Your Negro.” Slavery is America’s original sin; all our violence stems from that diseased root, begun with the first boatload of slaves in 1619. We must honestly face our violent and bloody history.

From the same people who want to get rid of the electoral college, add more justices, make scotus a term limited appointment. In other words they want to throw out what has worked for over 200 years

He may well be 100% correct...but in the last 200 years our society has changed, slavery was outlawed and the 2nd Ammendment was reinterpreted.
