How did one million U.S. deaths from Covid-19 become normal? @edyong209 tells @MehdiRHasan that it all comes down to the most powerful Americans believing the pandemic is over because they *feel* safe.

No I dont think its safe b/c it looks normal outside. I think there are still risks but not such that we need Lockdowns & Masks to manage it. We need to normalize or we wont have a country. China is WRONG on "No Tolerance".

It's not fucking normal but when the news media bombard this with headlines for months and then all of a sudden there's absolutely not even on our local news stories about covid anymore people aren't interested and not interested in the facts

@edyong209 You are good man! I loved your book (I Contain Multitudes). Thank you!

1.1 million and climbing. Given 3/4 of the states no longer release Covid stats, we can assume it's closer to 2 million
I'm vaxxed and double-boosted, and I double-mask when I go to the store or the doctor. I don't feel *that* safe.

Please @mehdirhasan do not drop this or #LongCovid. I read an estimate of over a billion contracting LC. The deaths alone should be enough and appeals and reveals should go up through Biden and out to all world leaders. This privilege & elitism is sickening.

I repeatedly hear that Covid was more pronounced in black & brown people, in my experience they ignored the veracity of the warnings early on, ignored social distancing guidelines and gathered in large unmasked groups on weekends. Not including those who had to work & be exposed.
